Just three days after Olindo Mare missed his second field goal of the season with the game on the line, he found himself sharing the practice field with undrafted rookie Adi Kunalic, who re-signed with Carolina on Tuesday.
"The last time something like this happened, I made 30 in a row. Maybe I need this to help me focus. We'll see," Mare said. "These things make you stronger, and they make you better.
"It's competition, just like in camp when we were together. If you're scared of competition, then you've got the wrong job."
Mare welcomes competition

I hope this isn't another display of FO incompetence. I am not sure why you would pay a kicker with a 75% FG rating all that money. Aren't FGs kind of hte main thing for a kicker? Touchbacks are nice and all I guess but who gives a fug about kickoffs, let's find a 'FG specialist'.
If Rivera needs to use two roster spots than that is what he needs to do, I hope he rethinks that because doesn't look like he is able to fill the role with only one slot. Can you imagine relying on Mare in the post season? He's already chocking 30 yarders on a 2-3 win team when it doesn't even matter, try a dome in the post season we'd be fuged.

totally agree. I am happy that Rivera addressed this problem this season instead of just brushing it off and letting it roll into the offseason. He is sticking with his strategy that the rest of the season is basically a tryout for everyone next year.

The Panthers front office.
I bet the entire league burst out laughing at giving Mare that money.
It's not like the rest of the League was beating down the door for his services.
Idiots. Just absolutely, unadulterated Idiots.
