So now Hurney has two kickers signed to multi year deals...... There goes the 1 for 2 roster spots I guess.

Why would you sign the rookie kicker to a multi year deal?

It's a minimum salary with no guaranteed money. He can be cut anytime with no cap ramifications.

I wonder what he would've said if the FO had brought in competition that he felt was competition and not someone he's competed with during camp already. Maybe he feels that the FO bought him in for show and not to take his job. We should've keep Kasay and cut Baker. I think it's easier to find a punter than a FG kicker.

Mare is a fine kicker really.

I would have cut him on pure principle.

Just watched the replay of the Chicago/Denver game, featuring three 50+ yd field goals.

We have one of the highest paid kickers in the league and we can't trust him with a 40 yarder...it is enough to make me want to punch something.

I would expect a rookie to make that kind of mistake, it's his first year and most QB's don't even start the first year.Mare has had only two game changing fieldgoals to make this year at home and he has missed both and he's been paid well to do one job.

your comparison is nonsense... you are comparing a rookie QB who is scrambling from several would be sackers, while attempting to keep his eyes down field b/c his receivers are running routes, that now see their QB's pocket has collapse so they go into scramble mode, the defenses are shifting, so Cam attempts to make an incredible (but unwise) play in the midst of utter chaos

you compare that to Mare missing a routine 35 yard field goal with no pressure except for the pressure in his head?

Honestly, I wouldn't give mare another chance. I'd go with his replacement. If he's good then keep him, if he fails pickup another in the off season.

The comparison is nonsense because they don't compare. Mare is a bad kicker who missed a kick. Newton is a good QB who made a mental error.
