I don't give a poo about his religion. Maybe you can figure out that the word business is pretty all encompassing when used in the context contained within my previous post.

Isn't his business to entertain thousands live and possibly millions on tv?

So were Kurt Warner and Reggie White. That should tell you that people ripping on The Golden Calf of Bristol are not simply doing it because he's religious, they're doing it because he's a massive douche bag and an absolutely terrible football player.

He isn't that bad. He isn't as bad as Rex Grossman. And why is he a douchebag? Has he committed any felonies, or does he insult other players, fans coaches etc...? Face it, fans of other teams hate him for the same reason they hate the Cowboys. The ridiculous amount of hype he got in college and in the pros.

And of course, there is a small but loud group that hate anything related to Evangelical Christianity. A group that a lot of tinderbox regulars belong to. :)

Saying that Jesus f**ked The Golden Calf of Bristol is over the line. You don't have to like someone's religion. In fact, most devout Christians annoy the heck out of me. But you should respect it more than Maher does.

Tell. Me. Why.

Tell me why it's over the line. Why is a person's choice of religion any more sacred than their choice of political party or pizza toppings?

Tell me why I should respect Christianity, Chrisitians, or any other religious sect and it's followers.

Tell me why.

You should respect The Golden Calf of Bristol. That's my point. The Golden Calf of Bristol isn't your typical churchgoer who lives life one way Monday through Saturday, then raises his hand in church and everything is forgiven. He's a good kid. He treats other people well. He helps the poor. And people like Maher resent him for it. It flies in the face of his "all Christians are hypocrites" battle cry.

So he says "give all the glory to God" after every good performance. Is that really so bad? I don't believe it, and it's annoying to hear it over and over again, but 90 percent of what comes out of coaches and athletes' mouths is BS anyway. The Golden Calf of Bristol works hard. He is accountable. And a lot of people in the locker room, and outside it, could learn something from him.

Here's the thing...

You've pointed out all the reasons you like The Golden Calf of Bristol. And all of those reasons are just fine. But none of what you say addresses my initial question.

Tell. Me. Why.

So this isn't about your personal preferences.

I'm essentially asking you to tell me where it's written that I should be under some obligation to feel and display respect for Tim Freakin' The Golden Calf of Bristol.

Or even more importantly, why should Bill Maher, a left-leaning, sociopolitical humorist, be expected to respect the The Golden Calf of Bristol?

Because we all should show respect for each other unless that person has done something personally to you? Whatever happened to decency? If you want to make fun of Christians as a whole, fine. I've seen enough phonies in my life, and people who want to impose their beliefs on me, that I'll agree with you. But what has The Golden Calf of Bristol ever done to you or Bill Maher? I mean, it's one thing to say "carrying on the Kardashian tradition of getting black men off." He's not really saying anything bad there. But "Jesus f**ked The Golden Calf of Bristol"?
