If you had to choose a QB right now to build a team around, would you choose Drew Brees or Cam Newton provided they are the only two candidates available.

Saint fans would choose Brees and Panther fans would choose Cam so this thread is pretty much pointless

Cam because he has the skills to make the throws already, and he still has many many years left on his motor.

Drew Brees- 32 Years old

Cam Newton 22 Years old

Considering this year's performance, age alone dictates you choose Cam...no contest.

if you are building a franchise, Cam.

if you have to build a roster to go win a game tommorrow, Brees.

I think you have to go Brees. He's only 32 so he should have at least 5 more years in him at a very high level. He's one of the most accurate passers the game has seen. Who knows if Cam will ever get to that level.

yep, even a Saint fan should respond that way. The ones who don't eat paint chips.

I'd have a better chance at getting this right if there were 3 choices.

So accurate that he has the most interceptions by a qb. The past two years.

When I say build a team around I mean not win the next three games, but contend the next 5 seasons.

if it's a superbowl or bust team I'd have to choose Brees.

cam will be in the league 15 years easy.

drew brees will be around for 3 more, maybe 4.

cam newton is about to break the mold of quarterback play and defenses around the league will organize draft strategies around stopping him. young african american kids in high school will stop being converted to wide receivers because of their athletic advantage and learn to be a cam newton-type quarterback, and in ten years you'll see the first generation of new quarterbacks following the cam newton archetype. his legendary play will impact the league and the sport of football as a whole in the present and in the future for generations to come.

drew brees, meanwhile, has that heinous mole

yea i'll take cam.

Brees is accurate...he also turns the ball over. So that said, age still is the ultimate factor here.

False

Fact: All interceptions are a result of inaccurate throws.

More goes into being accurate than completion percent and TD/Ints.

When I say build a team around I mean not win the next three games, but contend the next 5 seasons.

Gotta go Brees especially if it's 5 years. If it's longer than 10, you'd hope Cam can develop into that QB but it's not a guarantee he gets to that level. Got to go with the known over the unknown in this scenario.
