You would need to make alcohol illegal first. Aint it strange?

So now its not about whether people cant get work due to substance abuse, it's a way to perform illegal searches on poor people so we have a convenient way to not pay welfare.

Which is, of course, the reason behind all this. And why it will never work.

Is that what I said? No.
You make up a lot of poo.
Not at all. I was replying to someone that suggest we drug test for alcohol. I was making the point that it is legal, Of course if you show up for work drunk, or drive a car, you are subject to prosecution. In that cass, yes they should lose the welfare. The drugs refferenced here are not.

Legal is not the issue. Whether the person is relying on welfare instead of work due to substance abouse is.

Or at least that's what we were sold on. Which of course is not the truth. Welfare recipients do not lose benefits if they get a speeding ticket or cited for say, drunk and disorderly.

isn't this easy though? if you are on welfare, don't do drugs and guess what Horatio? you just might get MORE.

this doesn't stop drugs. this is a double appeasement of red tape. oh you have to do this test or you can't get these funds. at the same time they think this really alters behavior long term.

such a waste.

I'd actually prefer to provide depo shots to welfare recipients over drug testing, but I'm for both.

Making them give 30 days of community service if they failed would be more effective but neither will become because it would steer our gov out of socialism.

Update: http://www.chicagotr...0,5662717.story

Parking spots and laptops vs. money needed to survive - well at least it's a step in the right direction.

Which of course has nothing to do with the already proven statistic that welfare users are using drugs at a rate much lower than the general population.

What they don't say if whether or not these results will be made public...

Legalize all drugs.

Use in moderation except pot. Smoke a lot of pot.

Those that cant control themselves lose jobs..eventually OD and die.

Everyone else prospers and lives long lives.

Natural Selection.

But then people might enjoy their lives, and we can't have that.

Whether or not you are an alcohol abuser or not is not the issue. Useing taxpayer provided $$ to buy illegal drugs is.

Crack should be provided in abundance for anyone that wants to use it. The problem would then resolve itself in a very short time.
