rayzor

i had an interesting conversation with a draftnik about nawrocki on twitter

46 posts in this topic

you should ask him. he said he talked to two of the same "sources".

i doubt he's going to respond to me anymore.

Probably the GMs of teams who either

a) wanted Newton for themselves

b) in our division and didn't want the Panthers to draft him.

It's just too damned easy to put comments out about someone with no facts.

To me, if you a person can put those kinds of comments in cyberspace, own them.

From what I understand, the guy you tweeted to said he spoke to two people in the league, a league GM, and a teammate of Cam's, and they said they thought Cam was fake? Did I misread those tweets?

This confirms it...................

Give me Rivera's opinion over any draftdick, Kiper, or anyone on a message board for that matter!

if I wasn't so retardedly tired right now I could process what's going on

but whatever. What I could understand seemed interesting, so thanks.

from what i could tell, he talked to the same "sources" that nawrocki did...none of which were auburn or blinn coaches or players. essentially they talked to people who talked to people who "knew". it was all 3rd hand info from unnamed sources citing unnamed sources.

You mean to tell me this guy, who admits being in the media bubble and not in the real world is using hearsay in this media world?

Blasphemy.

Honestly man if you didn't know all this BS already, I'd think you're the one in the bubble.

Or maybe you were just trying to get him to expose/admit how worthless/inaccurate he and his work is...good luck getting anyone in the media to admit that. Way too much time on your hands. Although personally, I would have taken his 'bubble' comment as saying just this.

pretty much this. even though i read what they say, i don't take any one of them at face value and i expect that most of them are talking out of their ass.

i do'nt have way too much time on my hands, btw. i just act like it. i work from home and figure i can waste as much time here as i can working for come company from an uncomfortable cubicle.

He did and the information came from NFL teams, how they got that information....ehhh

However he mentions that his scouts talked to some people in Auburn and got the same type of answer from them. Maybe a player or two had an issue with Cam about something...who knows...

loved it rayzor

if Nolan is/was a savvy 'scout' he would know that you cannot trust an assessment from a coach/gm/exec/team scout around draft time

acquiring players is not a joke to these people, its their jobs

in the past these people have been known to lie, burry documents, burn/hide game tape/film, all to increase their chances of landing the prospect they want

i was watching 3 for the show about Newton,Locker and Tyrod Taylor and its too funny the difference between how NFL cooches talked to Gil Brandt about Cam vs the way media talked about Cam

it wasn't even close they all talked about Cam in superlatives, the Browns were hoping Cam could fall to them and joked that 'anything could happen'

i think the media scouts views don't represent actual scouts/gms views and that is why the media portrays certain moves as 'reaches' when the truth is probably that they the media scouts had it wrong in the first place

Rayzor does a better job sticking it to people for criticizing a player's character than i'm sure a lot of agents do.... someone get this man a new job....

if these guys had actual talent as scouts they would be employed by teams. only a couple of them make any kind of real money from doing this.

if i were them i would take every bit of information i was lucky enough to get from real life scouts and GMs with a grain of salt knowing that they probably are feeding me bad intel.

they are for the most part tools (of real life scouts) trying desprately to gain any kind of authority they can to get traffic to their blog and hopefully get noticed by someone who matters.

ahh I misread this one thing:

@SidelineFB TheSidelineView

Spoke with at least two people I know. I confirmed with them they spoke to him. Auburn teammate said same thing last year

I took that to mean he had confirmed with 2 people he knew that they had spoken to him, and an Auburn teammate said the same thing (implying that Nawrocki spoke to the teammate and with the two people he knew).

doesn't matter either way, was a stupid thing to publish..

dunno why he needed that one "fake smile" sentence at all.

So this "Professional Draftnik" thing is like some small cottage industry that pumps out written evaluation pieces/ blogs that attempt to provide fans with draft prospect info, while believing that they have influence over the ones that do this for a real living? They aren't real scouts or journalists? Maybe the only way to get noticed in this field is to take some extreme opinions and try to get yourself noticed by putting them out there. NN accomplished that regardless of the validity of his work. I'd bet that he's glad he published it even though he was wrong. Excuse? I'd bet on "We all miss every once and a while". Either way, I know his name now and I've never heard of him before.

I'll admit to being interested in all the draft info I can digest, but I'll be damned if I'm going to take it like someone's spreading lies about my mama.
