Maybe so, but tell me you haven't laughed when things went south for Brett Favre.

The words "sports fan" and "objective" don't often go together.

So Tom Brady and the Patriots are now hated blood rivals now? I hold no ill will against the Colts nor Peyton Manning...

Huge difference between being a hated division rival and being a sore loser. :)

They don't have to be hated rivals to enjoy seeing them lose.

I smile when Roethlisberger loses because he's a prick, not because I hate the Steelers. Likewise, you can find people in most fanbases who get a kick out of watching Jerry Jones fail. And heck, some teams are hated for their fans as much or more than for the teams themselves.

Enjoying the losses of people you don't like is just part of being a fan.

Wow, you're backtracking awfully fast there... you're sounding like Jay Bilas now

Nah. Not backtracking at all.

People can choose to dislike a particular team or player for any number of reasons, including a heartbreaking loss to said team or player.

In some cases, the team or player themselves validates those feelings, sometimes not. Take a guy like Warrick Dunm. He did plenty of damage to us on two rival teams, but he's such a good guy in real life I can't find it in my heart to dislike him.

Brady, on the other hand, I've always found to be kind of a prick. Thus, I have no problem seeing him lose. Ditto Bellichick. Couldn't stand Mike Vrabel when he was with them either. And then there's Rodney Harrison.

Guys like Kevin Faulk or Danny Woodhead though? Nothing in the world against them.

Yeah, I didn't realize he completed 16 in a row... I did notice none of those were very long gains... :D

I can hate whoever I choose tyvm, and the Pats are at the top of the list. Arrogant assholes all and I'm glad they lost.

Somehow, whenever people post stuff like this, they get the "you're jealous" or "Brady is great" crap... Brady is a great QB, never said he wasn't, I just can't stand the fuger.

Ty Cobb was a great baseball player too.

But by many accounts, not necessarily the most likeable of guys...

Heck, we've had guys on our own team that weren't exactly my favorite people in the world.

Outside of the AFC East, I'd be hard-pressed to find a fanbase that hates the Pats, Brady and Bellichik more than the Panthers

I wouldn't argue with that.

Steeler fans I know aren't exactly warm to them.

(irony there, I know; especially with the James Harrison and Ryan Clark comments)

Bottom line for me: Biscuit's right. You can choose to dislike/hate a team or player for whatever reason you want to. Granted, some are more valid than others, but that's fandom. As far as flat out hatred, college fans are probably more rabid than pro fans on that front.

When it gets to the point of wishing injury, pain or suffering on someone in the real world though, that's when it crosses the line.

What about if it's Michael Irvin? Still count?

The point, Mr Scot, which you're avoiding or missing is that the widespread Panthers fan hatred is because they lost the SB to them. If the Panthers hadn't been in that SB, I guarantee you wouldn't have the rampant Pats hatred in this fanbase

Only time my hate for an athlete has transended sports hate. I really dislike him as a human being and this was after he stopped playing football. He is garbage of a person.

I get the point (hence why I said "maybe so" above). I just don't care.

People wanna hate him over the Super Bowl? Their choice. My own dislike for Brady is for other reasons.

Drew Brees has beaten us plenty, but I have no ill will against him for that. Gregg Williams though...

Like I said, it's just fans being fans. Everyone has their own motivators.
