For the time, that was one of the most innovative games out. Kinda paved the way for games like Elder Scrolls, where you can pick up or interact with almost anything you see. Shenmue II came out for xbox, i need to find it somewhere.

elder scrolls is way older than shenmue.

it was definitely groundbreaking and beautiful for it's time... it wasn't that much fun though imo. stacking boxes with a forklift and riding the bus is not what i play video games for.

This goes more or less in order of amount of hours I've put in on it over my lifetime, so it's a reflection more of which ones I've loved enough to play over and over and over again, not necessarily which are best. Skyrim for example is an awesome game, but I never play it because all my available gaming time goes to BF3.

1. SOCOM 2 (PS2)

2. Goldeneye 007 (N64)

3. Excitebike (Nintendo)

4. Original Tony Hawk's Pro Skater (PS)

5. Super Mario Kart (N64)

6. Battlefield: Modern Combat (360)

7. COD 4: Modern Warfare (360 & PS3, yes I had it for both)

8. Battlefield 3 (PS3)

9. MLB the Show 11 (PS3)

10. Madden (Various systems. Yes it's been poo forever but I buy it every single year anyway and play the shiznit out of it.

Am I really the only person to list an actual arcade video game?

I know its older, but you couldn't interact with just about anything in the environment. Thats what I was referring to. I believe that started on a limited basis with Elder Scrolls III, and on a more complete basis in Elder Scrolls IV and V.

I thought about listing Super Offroad, being my favorite arcade game, but decided not to bc there isn't really a story or anything.

My girlfriend in high school worked at a miniature golf place and as part of her paycheck she got like $100 in game tokens. I used to play Blitz for hours and hours and hours at the huge arcade there. I had every single high score and record. Tim Biakabatuka was the man on that game. I wish I could have pulled a George from Seinfeld and somehow taken it home to keep the high scores intact. AWESOME GAME, and probably should have been on my list. I played Time Crisis a ton too.

SFII, Golden Axe, Tekken, Ninja Gaiden and Double Dragon were all considerations.

I remember when Wal-Mart had arcade games out in the front door area and me and my sister and brother would play them while my mother was in the store. Mortal Kombat, Street fighter, Moonwalker, Operation Wolf, Captain America and the Avengers, King of the Monsters, The Simpsons, X-Men and there was this one that was a fighting game that was clay-mation people fighting each other. Can't remember the name of it.
