I really dont understand all the Clausen hate. He was a rookie in a horrible position when he started. He never complained last yr and seemed to be soaking everything in. He is relatively cheap when talking about a QB and he has some potential to be a decent back up.

Why not give him the preseason to see whats going on and if hes improved?

He isn't good, he's had two years to prove himself.
Football is a business.
He's a nice guy, but clearly isn't what's best for the team.

Would still save us at least half a million by bringing some other guy in. But if we lost Newton for the season, it'd all be a hopeless cause anyway so why worry about more than 2 QBs?

Jimmy has to be cut before March 13th, otherwise he gets the roster bonus....

However, if Newton went down, you could always lure Favre out of retirement for an old school Carolina miracle.

why? because he's nice guy?

pfffftttt....

we gain much more by using that cap space to find someone who will actually get playing time than wasting it to see if he can do anything but suck in a panthers jersey.

not interested.

Raiders are the only team I could come up with.

Raiders drafted Terrelle Pryor in the supplemental draft last year.

I actually think Pryor has a better chance as a developmental QB than Clausen.

I rather draft a rookie in the 7th round, re sign Anderson and say bye to Jimmy.

I think its pretty obvious that Jimmy won't be on this team next season, I also think that no one in hell would trade for him.

I'm just happy we didn't trade up to get him

I don't know who to believe anymore regarding our cap situation. Rotoworld says we have to get rid of almost $10 million in cap by mid-March. Just 2 days ago, the Observer said we were at $124 million currently, or about what the cap is expected to be. A while back, I saw elsewhere we were at $127 million.

At this point, unless we hear something from Jerry or Marty directly, I think our exact cap situation remains an unknown.
