God our defense would be sick with Jared Allen. He would cost some dough though, dough we don't have.

Because we have Charles Johnson...would be great to sign one of them, both would be irresponsible use of cap space.

Expensive isn't the half of it. He is signed through 2013. He will make 11.7 million in 2012 and 14.2 million in 2013. His cap hit for 2012 will be $14.2 million and in 2013 roughly 17 million. The only silver lining is if we did trade for him is that we would only be responsible for his salary not his cap hit. But still. Does anyone think we could deal with a 11.7 million cap hit this year.

They won't let him go and if they did, we wouldn't be in the running.

Jared Allen would be amazing but it's a pipe dream. I'd take Kevin Williams off their hands.

No way they would release Allen. I could see them trading him to a team like Cincy that could burn a first rounder on him and afford his contract.

Nobody else wondering if Steve Hutchinson has anything left in the tank?

Yea, it's possible. Would he take that big of a paycut? I'd rather our meager FA dollars spent on a defensive playmaker like Brandon Carr, Laron Landry, Michael Griffin, and/or Erin Henderson. Plus, these guys are for the most part relatively young.
