Cam, Luck and RG3's 40 yard Dashes Compared

47 posts in this topic

Yeah, to quote some scouts, RG3 was super fast but for some reason had a knack for running towards defenders. Field vision is a necessary ingredient, and Cam's is downright ungodly.

Its like he has eyes that work 360 degrees.

I've seen him now in 14 games at Auburn and in 16 games at Carolina and, except for the times he leaps in the air and throws self-control to the wind, I've never seen him take a solid hit that HE didn't choose to serve.

Impressive, but neither will be a Cam Newton. In a few years they won't be mentioned in the same sentence.

I can't wait until Huddlers stop worrying about other QBs possibly being good. Such a complex the Huddle is starting to get.

i dont understand why people put so much weight on the 40. how often does a player have an opportunity to run 40 yards in a straight line?

It's not a worry. Hell, I'm excited that new talented QBs are coming into the league, just so Cam has someone to compete against. It's not the same if he's outshining a league full of Grossmans and Kolbs :cam:

Never, unless you're Cam, and it's Saturday, and you're playing the Bucs the day before Christmas.

This... It's like we can't just be happy we have a great young franchise QB for the future... we have to crap on any other player that is also projected to succeed. RGIII, Luck, Barkley next year can all be great QB's. I'm sure Cam is not worried about either one of them, and neither should we. At the end of the day we will let Cam's play on the field and wins speak for themselves.

I also hope we get away from this Cam is God, while any other young or other QB is trash and just worry about us.

I get from Cam's personality the he is confident enough in himself not to worry about other QB's and their comparisons to him.... True Swag. I hope that swag of his starts to rub off on some of our fan base.

Just posted Rich Eisen's run (with a 10 yard head start) in the first post.

Comparing someone's measurable skills coming into the pros to Cam and then using that to project their rookie season is setting yourself up for failure.

Sure, if we measure RG3's college numbers and combine results it looks like he might be even better than Cam. But you could say that about dozens of QBs over the years and none of them were as good as Cam was this year. So it's a pointless exercise.

Cam was unprecedented. It was impossible to project him having this good of a rookie year no matter what people tell you they predicted.

even so its not like he was running without pads/helmet, unscathed in an absolute straight line (he wasnt exactly coming out of blocks).

and i think u proved my point... it happens maybe once a season for a player in particular.
