College Recruiting and the NFL Draft

I found this article from SI about how some of this year's projected 1st rounders in the NFL draft graded out as high school prospects. Very interesting...http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writers/andy_staples/04/21/mock/index.html

As recruits, last year's first-rounders averaged a star rating of 3.42 (out of five) and included five five-star prospects. This year, the players selected in the mock first round by SI.com NFL writer Don Banks boasted an average star rating of 3.59. The group included seven five-stars, four of whom are projected to go in the top six.

The star system will never be perfect, anymore than the draft is, but it does seem that the recruiting services are getting a little better at this stuff.

I would like to see them do this for 5 straight years, and see what the average is over that time period.
