very sad. He was killed for nothing regardless of whatever facts were unknown, the few hard facts were available at the time shows the kid was killed for nothing. Why anybody even tried to defend this Zimmerman guy other than just to be a contrarian is beyond me. When an unarmed 17 year old is shot and killed odds are pretty likely a crime has been committed.

so he chases after the kid, claims self defense, and was not initially charged? cases involving similar shootings by cops get resolved faster than this. what a terrible situation.

Thats kind of out of leftfield isn't it. From all appearances, this had nothing to do with religion.

Truth is that without or without religion, their would be bad people in the world. Things like greed and intolerance for others are the real problems in the world, and they would exist even if religion went away.

Joseph Stalin, Lenin, Pol Pot, and many others killed, not in the name of a god, but in the name of greed, or lust for power or land or whatever" Religion is a tool used by some, but if it wasn't around, they would use politics, as Stalin did or find something else.

A label, in this case, is something that accurately describes something. There's nothing to be salvaged from this.

This just goes to show how fear driven our society is. People are constantly in defense mode, assuming the worst in almost any given situation, influenced by the estrangement we've been conditioned with through the media and other various channels of society. There was no concrete evidence at the time nor during the post evaluation, of this 17 year old kid posing any kind of threat to Zimmerman or anyone else. For this punk ass security guard to find it acceptable to TAKE HIS LIFE for no other reason than his looking suspicious is beyond disgusting. Even if the 17 year old kid tried beating him up or putting skittles up his ass, this would not justify the use of a gun. Just because Zimmerman has a pretty badge and uniform doesnt make him any better than anyone else, nor does it give him a pass on the murder of an individual. So many people are quick to give the beneft of the doubt to their "leaders" and other "authoritative figures," while prescribing to the barbaric tactics of the status-quo to where the moral fabric of society is collapsing with each brainwashed individual whom enables and finds this type of behavior acceptable and justified.

I disasgree. If someone assaulted me and I happened to have a gun I'd shoot without hesitiation. The fact is you can die in a fist fight. People suffer brain damage in fights. When put into those types of situations, you have to use whatever force necessary.

911 tapes-- http://www.suntimes....g-released.html

And you should all know not to discuss race with Slyvian-- so full of archaic bullshit.

Doesn't change the fact that Robert Zimmerman isn't white. You must be disappointed that you can't play the race card now that the suspect is shown to be mixed race.

No, the guy could still be racist. Hell, even if they were the same race, race could have played a part in the shooting.

Looking back on this thread to see where the race of the shooter came up. Oh, as an attempt to deflect attention away from the apologists. News: no one is disappointed but the people who said "lets not jump the gun here", and now seeing how not locking this guy up right way was a complete travesty.

On the race card issue: you are damn straight that if that was a white girl, the "shooter of mixed race" would have been in jail that night.
