the wife and I make comparable income. It all goes into one pot. Seems silly to seperate things....I pay the light bill, she buys the diapers, tell her she better come up w/ half the vacation cash or we ain't going etc.
if I was divorced or getting married late in life...I might do seperate accounts.
We already had separate accounts when we got married. With comparable incomes, direct deposits, automatic drafts, etc.. it was just easier to keep both and split the bills.
It did make it easier to keep track of how much we had in our accounts. I never had to check and see if she had withdrawn money before making a purchase (to know if I needed to transfer money from savings or mutual funds). Same with her.
