"Before the draft, I'm going to Carolina and Tennesee. That's it for right now. Everybody is kind of poking their head in and out. I'm working on scheduling visits. Those are the teams already on the list, but we'll pick up more from now."

Clearly the Panthers need help on defense, although defensive tackle and cornerback have been considered to be their more pressing needs. Carolina has had injury issues with veteran linebackers Jon Beason and Thomas Davis. They also just lost Dan Connor in free agency. Kuechly could provide a long-term leader for their defense. With Carolina hosting Kuechly, he could be considered as a dark-horse candidate for their first-round pick at No. 9.

Definitely wouldn't be mad at this pick if Mo doesn't fall to 9. Probably the most sure pick on defense at that point.
Just wish there was a clear cut dominate tackle available at 9. Poe & Brockers are both a crapshoot, but Cox probably won't be available in the 2nd.

Guess I'll just have to trust Hurney

Whoever gets him will be getting a linebacker for the next decade. I guess whether we take him or not will be a clear reflection on how they think that Davis or Beason are doing in their rehab. I sure hope both come back strong.

as we saw last year, i don't think depth at any LB spot would be a bad thing AT ALL. we were just so unbearably thin at LB last year due to injury I don't see why a reliable, starter-worthy insurance policy wouldn't help this defense big time. I liked Connor but I think this guy has potential to be much better than Connor......him, anderson, beason and the ??? as to if TD can see the field for more than ~2-3...a very solid core nonetheless. he has coverage skills that would help us as well......connor wasn't much for the coverage department. The DL on the board at #9 seems to be either a stretch or a gamble on an unknown whereas this guy seems to be the real deal.

Although, as I type that......Aaron Curry comes to mind... "Surefire going-to-be-probowl-esque" in a few years ring a bell lol....

I will try to attempt to trust Hurney , for as much as that man really grinds my gears, .....he has hit on almost all of our 1st rounders......now in the 2nd round...thats a completely different story :(

I would be happy with Kuechly or Claiborn.

Yah I wouldn't be mad. It'll be nice to see if we could trade down a few spots and take him.
I think kuechly has the speed to cover and play the will if Davis does go down again.

Person says he thinks we might trade down if Blackmon, Claiborne, and Coples are gone.

If Claiborne doesn't fall this kid is BPA on D. Can then grab a DT or CB in the 2nd...not a big gap in talent between who we get in the 2nd round at those positions

Like every year we are covering our bases. We will always be BPA if the guy we want is not there.

I wouldn't be mad at this pick. Our DT situation brought our severe lack of talent at LB into the light last year but if either of those spots (DT or LB) had been filled with starting quality players it wouldn't have been such a disaster.

Claiborne is my first choice but if he's not there I think Kuechly is a better 2nd choice than the DTs we could take or Coples.

Honestly he seems to tall and lanky to be a linebacker. Whats so great about him? He seems slow too. Not a fan at this point
