According to Len Pasquarelli of The Sports Xchange, the Panthers will "definitely" listen to trade offers for Jonathan Stewart this offseason.
After signing Mike Tolbert, the Panthers quickly put out word that Stewart wasn't on the trade block, perhaps for fear of losing leverage. Per Pasquarelli, however, the Steelers could be a "sleeper" to make a run at Stewart, and "everyone" has made the Broncos the favorite to acquire the versatile, 25-year-old back. Pasquarelli does concede "there hasn't been anything serious yet"

Signing Tolbert invited the speculation. They were damned if they said anything and damned if they were silent on the trade matter. It wouldn't surprise me if they traded him, though I would be sad to see him go and hope they don't.

My unnamed source told me that he got an anonymous tip that said the Panthers FO is considering thinking about possible trades for a Stewart to be announced at later date.

The front may make a move if they are blown away by an offer that could be worked out.

Although I would hate it for this season, I STILL think that Stew gets traded before the draft. They can't afford to sign him long-term.

I still don't see a way that the Pantehrs can tie up nearly $20M per season in the RB position....and that is what they woudl have with DWill, Stew (under a new contract), and Tolbert.

I would hate to lose him....but I would rather get something now than watch him walk for nothing at the end of the season.
