Panthers Are Listening To Offer For J-Stew

244 posts in this topic

all those? what would they be?

Foster? Johnson? Peterson? Rice eventually? MJD eventually? Forte was tagged.

It's a myth that the position has been devalued. Plenty of GMs still see it as being an important position; if that wasn't the case, they wouldn't be getting the huge deals that they have and will.

Before any brings up the, "Well, how many backs have been taken in the top five lately?" logic, it doesn't work. The only reason that's been the case because there hasn't been a back good enough to go in the top five since 2008 with McFadden who was, SHOCKER, taken in the top five. Richardson has a shot to go in the top five because guess what? He's a top five quality back. The only people who see the position as devalued are television analysts who know nothing which is why they aren't official NFL scouts.

Don't kill the messenger.

no one is trying to kill the messenger .. just saying messenger is bad at reading comprehension

I'm not sure how this is anything new .. he did not say the panthers are listening to trade offers

Exactly. Just like Hurney's mis-management of the Julius Peppers fiasco. We lost him and got absolutely nothing in return, when they knew beforehand he wouldn't sign.

Peppers didn't give us an opportunity to trade him because he refused to sign the tender until after the deadline to trade tagged players.

They get paid huge contracts just as much as LTs, WRs, DEs, etc. do. So what makes those positions valued to teams and not the HB position?

If a team has a back they feel is great/elite, they will get paid. It's been proven and will continue to be proven, which debunks the guys post I initially quoted that claimed every other team has the position devalued but Hurney doesn't.

FWIW arian foster has been the best RB in the league and got less guaranteed money than DWill

Peterson is the face of that franchise

CJ was coming off one of the best seasons for a RB in history and was holding out until he got a deal

so those are your 3 exceptions for the entire league over the last two years. yes, the position has been devalued as is pretty obvious to everyone. if you haven't figured it out by now you probably won't ever and i'm not going to bother to try to convince you, have fun with your little delusion.

Panthers said after Tolbert was signed "We are not calling anyone trying to trade anybody." That doesnt say they wont listen to offers. I tried to find the thread were this was discussed but I couldnt..

Itd be rather unprofessional if they didnt listen. Of course they will listen to all offers, might even consider a few, and if its real good they will probably take it. But its going to have to be real good.
