Stewart + 9Th Pick = Wo Blackmon

To me, if we do trade Stewart (not saying I really want to), I would want to add more draft picks, not swap them.

No ones questioning that two WRs see the field more than two RBs, especially in our offense. But our WRs aren't that bad to begin with. If Blackmon fell, cool, then you'd have to consider him. But there is no value in trading Stewart up 5 slots to select someone who could fall to 9. Also, you can find WRs in later rounds.
No, they aren't bad. But Smith is aging and LaFell looks to be progressing. That's it. That isn't a lot. The rest is hopes. Gettis is a overrated at this point.
And as I said, don't endorse trading Stewart
WR situation isn't good. Isnt bad.

Obviously we need to start looking to replace Smitty, but it doesn't need to come in the form of trading up when we have bigger issues to fill that are immediate.

I know you called him overrated for literally no reason, but it still irks me that people can talk down on our players so easily just because we didn't invest much in the draft to get them or because somehow they think their draft status directly reflects their talent.

Don't see how Gettis is overrated. He had a decent rookie season and considering who was throwing him the ball, it's that much more impressive.

Gettis did diddly poo with Clausen....so he doesnt get extra points for that. He runs the deep vertical well.....he didn't show much more than that.

Man, Gettis still getting that "draft status" discrimination. If he was drafted higher, you wouldn't be calling him overrated. You would be talking about his potential right now after showing what he can do in 2010. He didn't choose where he got drafted and he didn't choose to get injured. Don't call him worthless yet.

Didn't call him worthless.....but this post is an example of how overrated he is. Gettis is someone who could develop....nothing more yet. He runs one route well bc of this speed....LaFell overall looked better as a rookie.
People are inking Gettis in as a WR and counting on him.....doing that to a fairly one dimensional young WR coming off an injury.....is overrating him.
I am all about letting him develop to see what he is......that is the point.

As to Gettis being overrated, sure, there are fans that think EVERY player we have is better than they are, but there are a lot of perfectly rational reasons to be very excited about Gettis returning and thinking that this year need not be the year we spend a 1st rnd pick on a WR.

How am I an example of how overrated he is? I didn't once say that he was good. My whole point was that you don't want to give him a chance because of his draft status. I am willing to give him more than one season before doubting him and calling him overrated. I don't care what round he was drafted in. You can't seem to get over it.

Isn't that even more reason to think highly of Gettis? The two games he had significant playing time in with a QB not named Clausen he had 217 yards and 3 TDs. Doesn't mean we never draft a WR as long as he's a Panther or some stupid poo, but I think WR is an area the team is fine, as far as early-round talent goes... We could use a #2, yes, but I think that Lafell has stepped up to the plate and Gettis will be a great target, so with the other holes we have I don't think we go crazy for a WR just yet.

Sheesh. Everyone gets all trade happy this time of year. And some folks only see that we're trading around mid-squadders and imagine that the winning of football games only happens when it comes to trading stars and acquiring first round draft picks.

WR is fine, it isn't a team strength but it is not a weakness. Lafell really seemed to be clicking last year, Gettis will be coming back, and I think Smitty still has some in the tank.

I agree. I think if Blackmon fell you draft him just bc he is BPA.....but outside of that we have other areas we need to fix
