Kuechly is WAY better than Robinson in every aspect but getting Robinson in the 4th would be a lot better than getting Kuechly in the first. Perfect scenario to me would be to get dline and CB in first and second rounds, then get a linebacker like Robinson or someone along those lines in the 4th. Then after that try to find hidden gems that play reciever/pr, and oline. Maybe a punter at the end somewhere but I think we can get a good punter without actually drafting one. Man I wish we had that 3rd rounder, but I love that we have Olsen so I can't complain too much.

I'm gonna be the downer here. I watch Texas, b/c I have an annoying fried who is a fanatic for the Longhorns. I would absolutely not take him before the 4th.

I would actually take him in the 5th if he is there & he could end up being a very good OLB in a few years. He may have good vision, but plays with poor leverage, gets eaten up by blocks & does not shed blocks well. Watching him play during the season, I didn't see him as a top flight guy, so be careful not to run into the 'measureables' trap (a take on the looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane analogy). The guys who usually become 'great' are the ones that produced in college.

I don't see him as a pass rusher b/c he is not great off of the edge or even up the middle. He has size & good speed, but that doesn't matter if you are being blocked out of the play. He is not the surest tackler either. Many times he would come in to finish a guy once another player would have the initial contact.

I really would like him in the 5th. If teams do their homework (which they will), I don't see him going before the 4th tho.

I'd dig this pick. No offense to Kuechly, but I think there is more value to this pick than him.

I believe I read somewhere that every starting OLB in 4-3 defenses in the NFL was drafted in the 3rd round or later. TD was drafted as a Safety so IDK if that counts or not.

On the issue with all starting OLBs being taken in the 3rd or later. I looked up all 4-3 & 3-4 defenses (17 to 15 respectively...I didn't know it was that balanced in the NFL right now), b/c this sounded interesting to me. I counted 12 starting 43 OLBs who were drafted in 1st or 2nd rounds, so whoever wrote that stat that you read is definitely wrong.

EDIT: I didn't even include Thomas Davis, taken in the 1st of course.

Your point still holds water tho. If 13 were 1st-2nd round picks, then 21 others were not, so you have a good point; that a good % of quality starters can be found in the 3rd or after.

I really like DeMario Davis. Same vision as Robinson, but better at shedding blocks. I don't remember how tall he is, but he plays the zone better than Robinson too. More fluid in the hips.

Robinson stay focused on the ball carrier and he is reading an offense like noone.
