I played a lot of sports growing up. . a fuggin lot.

Im American. . and thats what we do. We play sports and compete.

I have NEVER heard any coach in Football, Lacrosse, Basketball, Soccer, Baseball, and even martial arts call for taking a cheap shot at someone in the pile or to "go after (a player's) head" even if its late. No, there was never a "sweep the leg, Johnny" moment nor was there a "put him in a body baaag. . . hehehahaha".

I would say I played well ever 50 different teams, playing several sports in a year. There was never a time during the year when I was grwoing up that something wasnt in season. It was either football season, baseball season, lacrosse season. . and if there was no season there was martial arts tournies.

So lets hear it. . . lets hear the stories about how all of your coaches used to do this. Lets hear about how ALL of your coaches used to tell you to go for the injured ACL or to go after that sweet spot on back the neck. Did they pay you in nickels or just coke-a-cola's after the game?

Polls up, fibbers

Never was told to hurt anyone. Was told to knock him on his ass, but never told to injure.

My neighborhood swim team was the most brutal of them all.

We were given pizza for injuring other swimmers.

Both in football and rugby....never.

I've been told to decleat them, knock them out, and make it sting. I used to demolish guys in Rugby on kick offs just to send a message. (by my own doing) Usually I was penalized but it was just hard hits letting them know I'd be coming the whole game.

I was told if someone approached the net on me to try to hit them.

I blinded this guy who probably posts on here.

Any publicity that makes the Saints have to pay for everyone else's past regressions is worth it here....yeah it's happened over the decades of playing sports but let the Aints pay the price.....bwhahahahahaha B)

big difference between coach telling you to go knock that guy out and telling you to go specifically target ligaments that hold his joints, career, and life together

no saints fans comprehend the difference though

Never told to cheapshot, but instead to knock their ass out. Which is prototypical ra ra coach speak. But never in my life was I told to go for the ankles or take out their ACLs or anything of the like.

There's honor amongst thieves and honor amongst athletes. It's hard enough playing a sport, but to have others institutionalize cheap shot programs is just terrible.

The more I think about it the more shame I have for the Saints*

I played RG for a long time. When you play on the line, either OL or DL, you begin to respect the guys across from you. Both sides know they won't get any recognition, and every play, you go at each other until the whistle blows. There becomes a common bond between the two, and you know not to hurt the guy across from you. Never.
