Ok, it is really easy to put Lennon/McCartney, Paul Simon or Bob Dylan up there. And they have fantastic lyrics to their names. But I rarely listen to a song for its lyrics; I'm a beat/tune kind of guy - so my list is going to be kind of different than the popular picks.

5. Ric Ocasek (The Cars)

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame basically inducts anyone and their mother...hell Madonna, queen of pop music is in it. Now, I'm not saying she is undeserving, but how in the #$%! are The Cars not? Ben Orr and Ric Ocasek were incredible together, and they have so many hits to their name:

Favorite Song:

4. Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull)

A weird guy/a great flutist/and a great songwriter. Another band somehow not in the Hall, I think he should be here for his uniqueness.

Favorite Song:

3. Jeff Lynne (Electric Light Orchestra)

ELO is pretty underrated IMO. Yeah, they aren't unnoticed, but they aren't as fondly remembered as they should be. Lynne went on to help form the superband The Traveling Wilburys.

Favorite Song:

2. David Bowie

He is probably in most top-10's, but I couldn't leave him out. Most influential on my list.

Favorite Song:

1. Roger Waters/David Gilmour/Syd Barrett/Nick Mason/Richard Wright (Pink Floyd)

Never been more drawn to any other band for their lyrics than Pink Floyd.

Favorite Song:

What are your picks?

Anybodyhome, you are right and I failed to clarify. They let anybody in that is popular and deserving in the eyes of what is obviously a short-sighted council. When I say anybody, I mean noone is ineligible for the Hall. Hell, I could nail Hotel California at karaoke and be eligible.
