smh different situation. you calling a guy that had 800+ yards rec in triple option offense horrible production than you are not translating the skills or looking at the offense. that team only threw the ball 160 times all year.thats like when people claimed Cam was in a 1 read system, but its about you making the most of your opportunities. it will be a learning curve, but that is expected with any rookie. not many WRs run a pro tree in college. he could be the guy that allows smitty to run those underneth routes while he(Hill) gets vertical on a defense.you know he can and will block down field being he is from Ga Tech, he know to be a nard worker, and you see the speed to get vertical. we understand you dont want to draft a WR early but the skill level is there for this guy to be really good.

Your fooling yourself if you think Blackmon, or Floyd have to make the same transition as Hill. They ran more of a pro style offense. They ran more pro routes they have more of the same terminology.

And the 800 yards are mostly based on him running nothing but deep outs against poor Acc competition. 23 rec. that's it.

Thomas last season in GTech in Paul Johnson's triple option had 46 rec. 1,156 yards and 8 td. Thomas hasn't been more of a impact then Lafell. Do you see the difference?

KK is right. You need to watch this kid play and not just watch his highlight film. Obviously with his size and speed, he has the ability to make flashy plays. His route-running knowledge is very limited. When asked to run routes where he had to find holes in the zone or anything of the sort, he looked lost. Lets not ignore his dropped passes either.

Kid is a project, bit with his size and speed, he may be a good 2nd round choice. He could learn from our core.

Hill is the only wide receiver that I would be okay with in the first round (albeit in a trade down scenario) because he is essentially Randy Moss 2.0. Same speed, body, and everything.

The only knock on Hill is he is very raw, like Demaryius Thomas (when he entered the NFL) raw. It would take some good coaching to get him to an elite receiver level but if anyone can do it, then it is our coaching staff.

Good coaching and Time which some fans are not giving Gettis and Lafell. He is to raw to be a 1st round pick.

If that was true then Darius Hey -wardBay would have been a impact in his 1st season (which he wasn't). Just because you played in a run 1st system doesn't mean you get a pass on horrible production. Again If your such a great weapon for a team they find ways to get the ball in your hand. It would be stupid not to.

Even if you give him a pass because of the offense he ran in college. You can't think that helps him make the transition to the pro's.
It will take him a year alone to learn the route tree.

Then he has to learn how to run the route tree.

Then he has to learn how to get off the line scrimmage.

Then he has to learn how to get open with all the different coverages defense throw at you and you have to learn how to recognize them before the snap.

All this before just catching the ball. If he hadn't done any of this in college then we're talking about at least 2 - 3 years before you see him making a impact.

We can't afford to pick a player in the 1st or 2nd round who has 2 years before he makes a impact.

If this were true Cam Newton would not have been an impact player in his first year.

Or maybe more apropos, Demaryius Thomas had 8 catches, 95 yards and a TD reception in his first game. The had 204 yards against the Steelers in the playoffs with Tim "Helicopter" The Golden Calf of Bristol throwing him the ball.

Project is a term best left to QBs,

Times have change my friend. Now teams who have 2 top 50 picks(like us)you want both of them to be competing for starting spots.

You can't have a philosophy of building thru the draft and drafting Projects in the 1st or 2nd round.

So again, you are telling me you would pass on Hill in the 2nd round even if you were told he would produce like a Pro Bowler in the future solely because he wouldn't look like Jerry Rice his first season?

I'm not saying we should go and draft projects all out or anything like that. But if you believe Hill can reach his potential, you definitely take him in the 2nd. This is a team built for the future, not now. You don't pass up on guys solely because they won't be able to produce off bat. You pass on guys who you think never will produce. If you think Hill, by his 2nd or so year, will be a stud, you take him in the 2nd, even if he might not produce off bat like a Pro Bowler.

And learning routes isn't nearly as hard as you are making it sound. It's like all those people who acted like it would take Newton 3-4 years before he ever produced. You either got it or you don't. Hill for whatever it's worth also looked terrific running routes when scouts asked.

Project is a term best left to QBs,

1. We are talking about a wr and a QB right.

2. Demaryius Thomas - Career stats 54 rec. 834 yards 6 td ------ Brandon Lafell - Career stats 74 rec. 1,081 yards 4 td

3. Thomas who came out that same system has yet to make more of a impact then Lafell. Now we are on year 3.

4. If Hill only has 54 rec in 2 year will you be saying we need another wr in 2014?

I like how people think we need a wr but the Broncos don't.

Georgia Tech ran the option offense, they didn't throw the ball. Hell they didn't really have a QB, it was a running back that could throw a little. Hill will still be a project because he is raw and lacks regular route running experience. Although some are excited about him because on tape and combine he showed he could run strong routes and had solid hands among other good measureables. Difference between him and Poe is that Poe played DL and was asked to blow up plays, tackle running backs, and sack QB's in college. But the tape shows he didn't give a consistent effort, nor did he dominant in college. He had the chance, but didn't get it done on an elite level. In Hill's case he was never given the chance to showcase his skills on any real level.

Thomas played in that same system had 47 rec. 1,056 yards and 8td.

How Hill is getting every excuse know to man is crazy.

If you have a weapon in Hill like you people think then no matter what offense you run you find a way to get him the ball.

Or Paul Johnson is a complete idiot.

I like Hill with a pick in the 25th to the second round range, so if we were able to trade back and take him with a pick in that range then I would have no problem with it because he has a huge upset and massive potential with amazing frame and speed.

Was Brandon Laffell hurt for almost half his games and/or then have The Golden Calf of Bristol as his QB???

Did Thomas have the same QB at GT as Hill or did he have the ACC offensive player of the year as his QB??

Also in 2009 no one else on the team had more than 8 receptions. GT actually had more weapons this year which allowed them to spread the ball around more.

Details, details.

To a team that was desperate for wr help. We are not in that situation. This is just my opinion but we need atleast 2 starters out of this draft. I just don't see him being that for 2 years.
