That Clemson team would not have won more than 8 games in the SEC. I don't care about "prove it on the field" if it means you are taking away a bid from a deserving team just because the Big East or ACC team won their garbage conference. I don't know of anyone who watches college football that would even begin to compare the challenges of playing an SEC, Pac 12, Big 10, or even Big 12 conference schedule vs. that of an ACC schedule. Which is clearly evidenced by the fact that I'm pretty sure West Virginia is still scoring on Clemson.

Plus you really get to see how each conference matches up against each other. Outside of the current BCS games you typically have bowls where the SEC #3 is playing the B1G #5 and the ACC #2 is playing the PAC 12 #6 and so on. This way you get one vs one until there is no one left.

Thats going to be argument that you could pitch anyway. An auto-bid system is a fair system. Rarely would you get what UCLA was in the p12 south this year. Yes that would have been horrible but it didnt happen. Second how many teams are really in the hunt for a national champoinship at the end of the year. LSU, Alabama, and OSU were the 3 being talked about.

I'm not following.
It's not about fair it's about placing the best teams against each other to find a champion. With the auto bid system you are going to get teams that aren't in the top 8. Yes LSU, Bama, and OSU were the only ones in the talks for the NCG but if you are going to expand to 8 teams you better make sure those are the next best teams. So many people complain, "we never know if they are the best teams if it hasn't been settled on the field." So if you expand it make sure you settle it on the field with the 8 best teams. An auto bid doesn't do that.

The inflated records come into play when judging a team using polls. It's something you have to take into account. That's why you won't see an undefeated Boise over a one loss-SEC team. You can't judge teams while taking into account an inflated record if you just base it off the records itself.
