And my prediction for our pick at 9 if we don't trade. Prepare to WTF on Draft Night, but our last anonymous Midwestern lineman to go Top 10 turned out okay.

I really think Reiff will fall in the draft. Mid-to-late first rounder.

Got him in my mock but this was before the Campbell trade.

Cam was a smart pick so you're right, Reiff would be the opposite of that

Bruce Campbell is depth. Reiff will solidify the line and it's someone nobody is predicting which is traditionally what Hurney does early.

I remember hearing about him early in the offseason. I wouldn't mind him. I do NOT want a DT...anything other position and it's fine with me.

Also surprised not a single person has mentioned DeCastro since guard is obviously a need. Not sure we've ever drafted a guard in the first three rounds, much less as a Top 10 pick, but it wouldn't be a surprise pick if it made perfect sense to us outsiders.

Can you imagine an o-line with Gross, Kalil, DeCastro/Reiff, healthy Otah, and Hangartner or whoever the fifth guy is? That's potentially the best line in the league blocking for Cam and DeAngelo/Stewart/Tolbert.

if we traded back and he fell to us I wouldn't hate it. at number nine? with our holes? no chance.

I feel like I'm talking myself into this more and more as I think about it. Add another Pro Bowl offensive lineman to the mix, get Otah healthy...can you think of a better line in the league? Blocking for that read-option offense? Mother of God that could be an offensive juggernaut that dwarfs last year.

Sources tell Sporting News' Russ Lande that NFL teams are not nearly as high on Iowa OT Riley Reiff as the media, and that Reiff could fall "toward the bottom of the first round" or even into the second.

so you're claiming the way Hurney operates is to read predictions from message board posters and then do the opposite of what they say... and that's the way he operates on a consistent basis... with the early and thus most important picks

Point is that he's a master of smokescreens so the player they're targeting is rarely mentioned by the media. I'll never forget the chorus of "Who?"s that came after we picked Beason. People were pretty pissed. People were surprised by every single Hurney pick in the 1st except for Cam, Peppers, and Jordan Gross.

Go back through Huddle archives if they survived this latest site change and look at how pissed/surprised/confused people were at every single one of our top picks except for Cam.

The only person we've drafted out of the Top 10 from the Midwest was Biakabutuka.

"every year in the draft if you have a chance to grab offensive line help - you do that" Marty Hurney 19 April 2012
