I liked Greenberg . From what I've read around, he was hosting a recruit when he was fired. Dick move by Jim Weaver. No one likes his ass.
Greenberg is an excellent on-air personality and a really great interview from the few I've heard.
However, it's about 3 years too late for his dismissal at Tech. He is a guy who needs to be in a small, mid major school to maximize his recruiting abilities. A place like Winthrop would be an excellent destination for him IMHO.
It should be noted that VT is and always will be a football school and SG did a decent job of making them relevant again in one of the premiere conferences in the country. He also did a good job of creating a pipeline to the Charlotte area basketball players. I'm sure UNCC athletics are happy to see him go.

That's what I'm wondering. Who could VT possibly get.. Especially with Pitt and Syracuse about the join the conference.
I'm sure Shaka Smart is #1 on their list. VCU is the best program in Virginia right now.
But for a lot of younger, up and coming coaches Tech would be a lateral move and maybe even a bad decision to coach there. The only real draw of taking the Tech job would be getting into the ACC coaching ranks.
I think one thing that helped SG was no matter what VT is a football school, and as long as you're doing a decent job recruiting, you'll get 4-5 years in basketball.

Weaver is the reason the bball is what it is (Seth actually called him out on it last week which I think led to Seth getting fired) , his focus is clearly on football and only that.
I've heard names around here like Shaka Smart (probably wont happen) , Paul Hewitt, James Johnson (was assistant at VT before taking assistant at Clemson) , Josh Pastner, Jeff Capel.
Seth Curry actually tweeted that his Dad wants to coach VT .
I think they should look at Tommy Amaker VA native and I'm sure he'd like to go up against his former coach in Coach K.
