- Hogan should win the number two corner job as he plays smart.
- McClain will win the 3 tech (Neblett is more of a two technique anyway, so I think he will back up Ron Edwards there)
- Sherrod Martin will still be the free safety. Martin knows his job isn't safe anymore and will fight for it now that it's not being handed to him.
- Silatolu wins the left guard spot and in my opinion he will be the best guard on the roster.
How do we know he plays smart?

Nakamura @ FS
Neblett @ 3technique
Kuechly @ MLB
Beason @ WLB

Godfrey will not be out starting S by the end of the year. The worst tackling S in the NFL since he was drafted.....he isn't going to hang around as a starter long with Rivera. Rivera don't play. All these Ss didn't just come to compete with Martin. Don't put too much stock in Richardson's Martin comment.....it ain't just Martin who needs to be worried

Hogan was a 1st round talent that dropped to the 4th round last year. He is healthy now, and has 1 year knowledge of the system. There is no way that a 5th round pick from a D-1 AA school is going to take his job.
Lets get real.

agreed. we need to keep beason in the middle but i think we'll be doing a lot of things schematicaly that will have him as well as kuechly, TD, anderson, and the other LBs lining up in different places. beason will be the mike much more often than not. he'll be the one with the headset and he'll be the one barking orders.if beason is healthy enough to start, he'll be the.mlb, IMO.

LaFell vs Gettis
Adams vs Pilares
Barnidge vs Brockle
Silaotula vs Pollak
Hangartner vs Bell
Otah vs Campbell
Williams vs Stewart (this isn't the same but still)
Hardy vs Alexander
Fua vs Edwards vs Shirley
McClain vs Kearse
Anderson vs Beason vs Davis vs Kuechly
Hogan vs Norman vs Butler vs Munnerlyn
Godfrey vs Smith
Martin vs Nakamura
This will be the most interesting training camp in years if not ever. And I hope the spirit of all of these competitions will build a fight and finish into the team as a whole.

CB 2- Brandon Hogan. I'm not sure if this is going to even be close
CB Nickel- It's gotta be Munnerlyn or Norman. Put Munnerlyn
DT- McClain.... It's political, plus I don't think anyone has the experience to top him. I think Rivera wants to give his third rounder another shot, and he was the best of the two.

Position battles... Yum.
RB: D-Lo starts, but J-Stew still gets a lot of carries.
WR: Steve, LaFell, Gettis, Adams, Pilares, everyone else cut unless they can work the special teams.
DT: Edwards & McClain, with a heavy rotation of Fua, Neblett, Kearse
CB: Gamble & Hogan, Cap in nickel, Norman in dime, Butler stays too.
DE: CJ & Hardy, with Alexander rotating
LB: Anderson outside, Beason in the middle, Kuech outside. Davis in the situational setups.
Safeties: I dunno enough about the new guys to judge. All gonna come down to pre-season performance.
QB: Jimmy f*cking Clausen. HELL YEAH.
It's a shame Stewart can't start simply because of Deangelo's contract
real shame

Munnerlyn because i'm a Carolina homer.
Munn is a cock, not a heel. In all seriousness, I hope we have someone better than him to be the #2, but I dont mind him one bit in the nick package.

How do we know he plays smart?
I said this in this thread already.
I can't recall who we were playing but Hogan knew he was beat so he jammed the receiver out of bounds, that receiver then came back in bounds and was the first player to touch the ball causing a penalty. That is a smart and heady play.

Hope Hogan turns into a great player but, that was the only play he made last year.
