no they'd rather forget the previous owner practically ruined the NBA with larry johnson's 80 million dollar contract, let zo walk for glen rice, was accused of rape allegations, held the team hostage before leaving with them, dismantled every successful team charlotte had, and burned every bridge in charlotte just so they can demonize bob johnson some more

Hey man, I'm sorry you still associate the Hornets with Shinn. But a lot of us don't. The Hornets name was around way before that ass clown came to town. But everytime I hear Bobcats, it feels like Bob Johnson's bullshit is still being crammed down my throat. Nobody is saying Shinn wasn't an evil douche. I think you are conveniently lumping shinn and the hornets together. It's almost impossible for me to remove Bob Johnson from the B0bcats considering he named them after himself.

Hornets fluffers still use Shinn's logo and colors instead of creating their own. They're still fighting his battles, still tryna capitalize off what he built. If we did change to the Hornets, they'd put his statue in front of TWC Arena. Shinn is still their guy. Being a rich black person is worse than rape in Charlotte to these idiots.

bob johnson made his mistakes, but nothing compared to some of the other owners in professional sports, shinn being one of them.

the irony.

George Shinn was a piece of garbarge as a human being. He many MANY mistakes in his personal life and his a complete scumbag.

However, his management of the Hornets is SPECTACULAR compared to either Johnson or Jordan....and that is a fact.

Take a look at the win-loss record.....the drafting success....post season appearances......all are light years ahead of anything that the Johnson/Jordan combination have delivered.

Jordan has systemically taken a mediocre team and turned them into the WORST roster and team in the HISTORY of the NBA.

The most monolithic movement in history. Black people dont support the Hornets Rebrand movement, and could care less about Hornets revolutionary history. Thats why we're still the Bobcats. If you don't like it, move to Australia.

Not true. Most of the black people I know are on board with the movement. You are a very small minority of people who don't support the movement.

What these brain damaged BJ-blowers don't seem to comprehend is that despite how horrible of an owner Shinn was, he didn't name the team after himself so that we are obligated to recall how horrible of an owner he was everytime someone says our name. The first team here was named the Hornets, not the Shinncats. If we were named the Bobcats and our first owner who named the team was named Steve Johnson, no one would be asking for a name change.

King T - why haven't you responded to QC Thundercats at Bobcats Planet?

He squashed your black people don't support the movement thread.
Here is the link to that thread
http://www.bobcatspl...n-Page-9/page41

Also, I ran into Sage Steele from ESPN yesterday ( she is the sister of one of my friends) I was wearing my Charlotte Hornets hat and "Bring Back The Buzz" shirt and she said she loved it.

Sonya Gant from WBTV and her Dad (Harvey- former Mayor of Charlotte that happens to be Black) are also behind the movement now. Sonya actually called John personally and and asked him to come into the studio and interviewed him on air. It was an entire segment.

There is a Charlotte Hornets Draft Lottery Party tonight raising money for Charlotte Metro School (a school for kids with developmental needs). There are kids from all races that need help and this is an awesome cause. You are more than welcome to attend and contribute to a great cause.

For you to paint this movement as racist is really sad.

It's 2012, we are better than this.

If you want to talk about some Uncle Toms, not sure what the worst Bob Johnson creation is: BET or the Bobcats.

I never said Shinn was great. He had a biblical decline. It really goes to show how bad Jordan and Johnson have been when they can't even match up to a rapist who demanded the city build him a new arena.

I wish people would admit that they just want the damned Hornets name back for nostalgia purposes instead of trying to make some kind of business argument.

Selling nostalgia is big business.

There are cars, music, video games, movies, appliances, homes, vacations and clothes that all incorporate nostalgia to encourage people to spend money they otherwise would not feel the urge to spend.

In sports, why would teams play games in retro uniforms if it was not for nostalgia and getting people to spend more of their hard earned money?

There is an excellent business case to be made for the re brand and that case is nostalgia.

There are also people that already have nostalgia for the Bobcats and what they represent. Their memories are very strong too.

Some people will claim that the re brand doesn't matter but the passionate response to these threads tells me it matters more than most people are willing to admit.

That passion is built on nostalgia and nostalgia drives revenue to the bottom line.

Do you really think that nostalgia is going to sell if the Hornets are still BY FAR the worst team in the NBA? Winning would bring more fans and success than any name change would. I'm in favor of becoming the Hornets again but it really won't matter as long as Michael Jordan makes stupid decisions that gets rid of our teams talent and brings in other teams garbage.
