Cain > Strasburg > Bumgarner > Gio > Zimmerman > Vogelsong
Right now Cain & Bumgarner is the best 1-2 punch in baseball. You keep bringing up Lincecum & Zito. In a playoff series neither of them would see the field.
What? See below.
I would take Bumgarner & Cain over any other 1-2 punch in baseball. Barry Zito is also pitching excellent this season.
Bumgarner & Cain are two of the most underrated pitchers in the majors.
Strasburg is still recovering from a major injury. Cain & Bumgarner are cold-blooded killers with a World Series title. Numbers aren't everything. In a 7 game series I'd take SF everytime.
Bumgarner
Cain
Zito
Lincecum
That was kind of my point. In the playoffs I would take those guys over anybody else. Tim Lincecum is 2-7 with a +6era. If he can return to his old form they would be the #1 rotation by far. He is really struggling.
SF Giants finished #1 in ERA in '10, 2nd in '11, & are currently #5 this season. I would take Cain over Strasburg then Bumgarner over Gio anyday. Barry Zito is having an excellent season. Tim Lincecum is struggling, but he's a two time Cy Young winner. In a 7 game series I'd put my money on SF beating Washington & their staff. SF shut down a very powerful Texas team in the WS.
SF Ace & 2x CY Young Award winner is playing that bad, yet SF rotation is still better than LA.
I'm the one who keeps bringing up Lincecum and Zito? lulz. You said best rotation. Best rotation does not mean best 1-2 punch(which by the way is debatable and Strasburg & Gio crush Cain & Bumgarner in WAR with 6 vs. 4.5). Nationals have a better ROTATION than the Giants and it's not even close.
