As Newton progresses we are going to be more and more under the spotlight. We need good media personalities (well don't NEED, but it helps with your appearance as a franchise). Cam charisma and modesty is great for a QB and Beason's confidence and fire is a great way to set the tone for this defense. Personally I think it's great.

Also he's pretty dead on. College LBs that get drafted into the NFL generally don't progress too much. Most of them are great immediately (Beason, Willis, Urlacher, Ray Lewis), totally average and never blossom into their draft stock (Manny Lawson, Keith Rivers) or complete busts (Gholston, Aaron Maybin, Aaron Curry). I can't think of one high profile linebacker who started the NFL being deemed a poor player then completely turning it around. The position is sort of like running back due to it's physicality and reliance on instincts, you either have them or you dont.

So when an opposing player is asked questions & gives answers stating his .02 cents & mentions an opposing player everyone bashes him to hell & back saying how dare he. But when a Panther does the exact same thing it's okay because he's confident? Get real. Beason could have praised Luke without mentioning the top 2 picks in the draft by name. He's just stirring poo up.

He didn't say anything bad about Luck or RG3. He just stated that a top LB is a safer pick than a top QB. He's right too.

Everybody called Alex Smith out for mentioning an opposing player. Smith didn't even take a shot at Cam, he took a shot at the defense if anything. Beason took a shot at Smith, implies Keuchly is going to transition better than the top 2 players in the draft, & keeps talking about how Carolina is going to be a dynasty. Everybody praises him for his leadership & confidence. His last 2 seasons on the field Carolina was 9-23.
