Haven't seen it posted, if it has been... yadda yadda yadda.

I thought it was interesting that, basically, he said that at some point someone else would be wearing number 89.

No they won't. Not with the Panthers anyway. #89 will be done for the Panthers when Smitty hangs up his cleats.

Agree, he's meant too much to the team and the community not to have his number retired.

There will never be another name on the back of 89, unless Smitty approves it. Kinda like Michael Irvin and the 88, he approved for Byrant to wear it just as Drew Pearson approved for him to wear it.

We know #89 and #1 are off the table for anyone else. Any others?

Wouldn't be surprised if Minter's got retired, but I believe that should of happened by now.

Carolina doesn't retire numbers but I think Jackie Miles has some that are off the table for now. Not sure he would hand out a 17 if someone wants it for some time

52, 20, and 69 could get retired. . . . depends on a lot of things though right

I dont think Minter was quite special enough to have his number retired, but he is currently my favorite retired Panther. I wish we had a safety as cold as that now.
