I would imagine it's just the teams with best records. Divisions have never meant anything in the leagues I've been in.

Does anyone know if this means that the playoffs won't go by best record? I'd hate to only send 2 teams from the south to the playoffs like in the NFL.

The Divisional leaders have a bye in the 1st round of the playoffs. Then it goes by ranking. Ergo best rank of the 10 left plays the worst ranked, then 2nd best plays the 2nd worse... etc
