Personally I don't care about backup qb's, but I want someone who can try to keep a win streak alive. In that measure I think Smith was more valuable in college. As much as I hate Touchdown Jesus, I'd take him over Clausen and Smith. (FOR BACKUP PURPOSES ONLY)

How about we just worry about QB3 when Anderson goes out/down.

I don't think Troy Smith is one of them. They both suck.

A lot of very good debates on which QB is better: Clausen or Troy Smith, and a lot of very good points made. Personally, I don't have a lot of confidence in Clausen... at all, and I'm a believer in: "If you don't change anything, you'll get what you've always got." Clausen doesn't add value to our offensive scheme but I do understand the money situation. If Clausen's cap hit is so low that it's not an impact, I can feel the thought to keep him until it changes but I would put more value on continuing to build for the future at all positions, including a backup QB. Yes, we're talking about a 3rd QB, but if he can excel in Chuds offense, he may move to #2 when Anderson leaves. When that happens, I would rather have a 3rd QB that can add value than a Clausen. I'm not sure how much Smith would want but I definetly think that he'd be a better fit than Clausen.

If Colt McCoy has trade value, Clausen do too.
All he has to do is showed he improved in the preseason.
Teams like Arizona, Seattle, Raiders, Jaguars, Rams, and Colts may need a QB for competition or just a better no.2 QB.
Theres a lot of teams without a sure QB or a no.2, so they will be looking for a guy who has the track record and thats someone like Clausen, not Smith.

The fact that you think Clausen is even comparable to Colt proves there is no point in trying to reason with you.

Isn't Cleveland running WCO now, though?

Not saying he'd be great there, but it'd better suit his skill set.
