Cam has to take a little heat for the losses. You can't pile it all on one phase of the game.

Coming from Jaworski, this doesn't surprise me. He has made a living being fairly conservative with his comments. He is no Dan Lebatard or Skip Bayless, which is a good thing. He keeps things kind of middle-of-the-road. I would have Cam in the top 10 but, the national media attention is nice.
I can only imagine how much this powderkeg is going to explode when Carolina develops into a perennial playoff team.

Also think bout this. How many game winning drives did Cam have last year? I can only think of the one vs. Jacksonville. He had several nice drives fizzle out at the end of games. If he can be that guy that closes a game it would really elevate him.

Also think about the system he came from, and how many 'experts' predicted he'd be a huge flop as a QB. Not to mention the lack of preparation before the season started. Consider all that and IMO his performance was like Magic Johnson playing all five positions in game 6 of the '80 NBA finals- 42 pts/15 rbs.

Saw the video of Jaws' comments on SC whilst at home for lunch...

Despite the ranking of #15, Jaws is very, very complimentary of Cam. Showed a couple plays where Cam broke down the defense and made some great throws... good little spot.

Jaws sucks the dongs of the pure passers. If looking at QB's from this aspect, his ranking is okay. Hard to ignore what he brings to an offensive gameplan that goes above and beyond his throwing touch, which has lots of room to improve.

15 is fair, I never understood the anointment after one (albeit amazing) year. Now if there is a repeat performance, even without 4000 yards passing, I'd have a hard time putting more than 5 QBs above him.

Have said before that it is his passing, not his running, that will make or break him in the NFL.

He might never be the kind of pinpoint accurate passer that guys like Brees and Brady are, but guys like Favre and Elway have proven that all you have to be is accurate enough (with occasional flashes of brilliance) and you can win it all.

I can see ranking him @ 15 simply because he's only played for one year, but he's clearly a top 10 talent.

Being named the 15th best QB in the league coming off an abbreviated rookie season ain't bad. He'll be considered the best QB in the league in 3 years.

And the best of all time in 15 years.

Until Newton consistently plays better in the 2nd half of games, I won't consider him a top ten qb.

He has the ability to be the best to ever play the game.
I'm looking forward to see hiw growth and developement as is the rest of the football world excluding the rest of the NFC South.
