Big day for the president tomorrow

Supreme Court is expected to issue its ruling on Obama Care.

So what are your thoughts on what that ruling will be? WIll it be struck down entirely, or upheld, or will parts of it be struck down?

My guess is that most of it will be left intact, but that the mandatory provision will be struck down but the rest of it will be left alone.

Btw, its interesting that the SC is releasing its ruling on its last day before adjournment. Seems like they want to get out of town quickly. :)

Without the mandate, the rest of the bill would collapse under the financial burden. You CANNOT cover pre-existing conditions without requiring everyone to have insurance.

Insurance is built on the premise that the majority of people will pay more for insurance than they will ever collect in services...and that this spend pays for the minority that receive much more than they pay.

With coverage of pre-existing conditions and no mandatory insurance, they young and healthy Americans will forego insurance until they really need it. Then, they can purchase it and have everything covered. The medical/insurance industry would collapse under this scenario.....unless premiums SKYROCKETED for those with the insurance.

Which is what a lot of people do now...not just the young. They choose WAIVE insurance on their benefits applications. I think people are really confused on the preexisting condition issue. There are two completely different problems. One, which everyone supports, is where you've had insurance the whole time and by things outside your control (employment, move to another state, etc) cause you to change insurance companies and the new one simply refuse to cover your problems. The other is the one you're mentioning whereby someone just holds off not buying insurance...living it up using that money for other stuff and then thinking they can buy it once they feel they really have to have it.
