yeah that's what i was saying re the extra 1500 yards

and of course the front office can restructure/extend him at any point so it's not like he's truly limited by the current terms and length of the contract

I hope he stays long enough (and healthy enough) to break 15,000 yards. He's going to be in the HoF either way, but a lock is nicer to sleep on than a maybe.

Not sure Smitty is quite a lock yet. But like has been said. If he can stay productive for 3 more years, then add a couple nice years. Then, he may just be in the conversation. 14000 yards can be the start. But if he can get close to 15000, that may just do it. Throw in his start as a Returner, and his resume' is as good as almost anyone.

Anyone who thinks Steve Smith won't be in the HoF is a fool.

Best in the league, bros.

Listen, you can categorize him with stats and numbers, and theorize his ranking among the other WR's by looking at quarterbacks, injuries, etc. But when it comes down to it, Smitty plays with more fire, dedication, confidence, and will than any other WR I have ever seen. Match that with his natural ability and talent, and he soars above all other WR's in the league. Are there other WR's that are more talented (faster, taller, better hands, etc...)? Yes. Are there WR's with better stats? Yes.

But Smitty combines all facets of ability and personality into being one hell of a football player. The guy is what, 32, and he just put up a 1000+ yard season, with no real signs of slowing down. The guy is just amazing.

I'd take Smitty in his prime over any guy currently playing in their prime.

But today, you gotta take Megatron over him IMO

with 15k yards? i agree.

with his current stats, lack of a ring, and the possibility of a production dropoff/injury, he's not even close to a lock.

Right now he is not close. IMO. He needs at least 21 more TDs to reach 80. 4k more yards and he is close to top 10. Put those two together and he is in the discussion.

He has the respect card from folks watching him grow from a PR into one of the most exciting players of his generation. And that is what the hall is. How do you stack up with your generation. Smitty stacks up very well. He just needs to pad the stats for the next 4-5 years.

I've never seen Roddy White absolutely take over a game like Smitty did in Chicago during the playoffs in '06. Freaking phenomenal. Nor like Steve did vs. the Vikings at home when Smoot spat on him in pre-game. My favorite player, hands down!
