Lot's of friendly banter going back and forth lately between guys like Barkley, Malone, Kobe, etc.

If you've watched ESPN or listened to the radio lately, I'm sure you've heard it.

Basically, that whole documentary came out a couple weeks ago about the Dream Team and I honestly think Kobe and a few of the other players got a little jealous and butthurt that we aren't talking about them.

I would take the Dream Team and be willing to lay 10-12 points. IMHO, only Kobe/LBJ would be locks to make the original DT.

Honestly, I'd probably take DT2 over the current squad.

EDIT: fuging macbook

Durant could maybe make that team too, but no dream team would straight crush them. They are going to have a tough time even winning the gold I think.

IMO it would be a lot close than people think. A lot of guys on that '92 team were well past their prime- Bird and Magic would be huge liabilities on defense and wouldnt have a chance of guarding guys like Chris Paul and Lebron. Of course, with Dwight and Wade injured the 2012 team would give up a lot to MJ and Ewing/ Robinson down low.

With Howard and Wade, I think this years team wins. Without them, this years team wouldnt have enough inside to handle the dream team

I think when you add in the age argument, the 2012 team does have a chance at beating the dream team. (Yet I don't think they could do it even with the age on the dream team) Yet, who cares if Kobe and those boys could beat old men? What, they want a cookie? I could probably beat Larry Bird one on one at that age. I really don't understand the obsession with this question if we are talking about a 2012 olympic team that has young stars, vs the dream team who has aged hall of famers.

Let's ask a true question. (Since all of this is theoretical anyway) Could a primed 2012 team take on a primed dream team? Could this 2012 team take on a dream team where all of it's players are in their prime? My guess is that dream team would win 200-0.

Larry Bird's response to KB so far has been the best.

Whos gurading a 6'9" PG in Magic, CP3 whos 6'0"?
Theres a reason why people called them the Dream Team.
This 2012 team are trying to stamp that name on themselves, rather then having people give it to them.

I'm not sure who guards Magic, but I do know 1992 Magic Johnson couldnt defend a single person on this team, so I would consider it a wash.

And the reason it was called the dream team is because it was the first one to include NBA players at all. Which also explains why so many of those guys were past their primes

I only feel like Bird and Magic were past their prime, and yet and still they were productive players. I think people overlook just how bad the comp was for Dream Team 1. The best international player they faced the entire olympics was soft ass Toni Kukoc. Unlike today where we see Horfords, Ibakas, Gasols, Ginobilis, etc.

the competition was indeed weak but that's not the DT's fault. Only a moron would take this team over the DT1. I'd probably take DT2 over this team as well.

Obviously like Kobe said... You throw Kobe on MJ, LBJ on Magic and go from there.
