I'd like to see LaFell as that 'larger' slot WR matched up vs the smaller DB's personally. I think he and Olsen could really work the shallow/intermeiate routes while Murphy and Smith keep the safeties occupied high and outside.

Once the defense begins to account by leaving single coverage on the edges both our outside options have the ability to take the top off the defense. Murphy I think is what we saw flashes of out of Gettis back in 2010, Murphy seems to be the more physical one based on what I've read, while Gettis is just slightly bigger.

He can play. He was a solid WR for the Raiders. Good friend of mine is a big Raiders guy and he threw a tantrum when he found out we got him for a 7th. He had a banged up couple of yrs, but that seems behind him thus far.

I would not be surprised at all if he gets the #2 job from Lafell or they split time.

If he becomes the #2 he will cost more than a 7th rounder.....though I'm sure still a very good deal.

Green Bay has shown us that you can never have too many receiving threats.

I think I will wait until at least the end of preseason to see what happens. If Gettis continues to be slow in his rehab the likelihood is that Murphy will get plenty of work in the preseason. Almost a month to see what he has. I hope he is everything we want him to be and more. But he has had trouble staying healthy and his lower body isn't very stout.

That's what I was thinking. Lafell is good at catching in traffic, and having him running crossing routes up the middle is where I think he would shine. Probably wouldn't get the biggest stats for his career in this role (since he doesn't have much acceleration after the catch), but I think he'd be the most effective. When Smitty is ready to hang up the cleats, Gettis might be even able to slide into his role opposite Murphy (or vice versa, whoever doesn't get the role this year).

I'm looking forward to seeing Murphy on the field but I think that LaFell will get his shot at #2 WR. Murphy with his speed, I think would fit better in the slot.

I'm glad Murphy came along, I'm not feeling great about Gettis' chances - though I would love to be wrong.

I like Panther receivers who play with chips on their shoulders.

See #89

This is going to upset some people, but I believe murphy's talent may spell the end of Gettis
