Every preseason, and I am old enough to say I have been around for all of them, we all sit and speculate as to who will be what and what will be who...

We are more than ignorant...... It’s just the truth. (It’s the nature of being a fan) We take the little images we gather from a 2 hour practice and do our best to formulate how we expect a 16 game season to unfold...

We have not a clue...

I remember what it was like to be a Panther fan and not even really know the names of the players (it was much more fun then), now as a fan I can name everyone, understand what position they play, and even as a coach myself have knowledge of what they are responsible for on the field....

I miss the simple days...

The truth is this-- these practices are for the public. The true work wont come until about 9 days from now when it is all behind closed doors. The coaching staff is being very cautious to make sure our guys don’t get hurt, and the playbook is being hidden to ensure folks who are pretending to be fans cannot record what really matters....

So in the end, other than the individual drills, don’t worry about offense vs defense and scoring...

What we will see for the next 4 weeks will be only what the coaching staff is comfortable to show the rest of the NFL, cause they sure is hell are watching...

Point= Don’t take everything you see in training camp so seriously....

The objective is to get everyone to week 1 healthy, and then let the playbook get to work... No matter what, or how great you think our team is, it won’t matter because the only ones who can determine that will be on the field week one.....

So just breath... ;) and enjoy!!!!!!

You also have to take in consideration that this board isn't filled with sane, rational and patient people. As a matter of fact it's for the people who care so much they have to put their thoughts into writing. Think about it, most if not all the people here are one post or topic away from going bat #$## crazy. Even the most sane and rational posters of us are one "Steve Smith is a thug" or "trade D-stew for a probowl CB and DT " topic from going postal. Insert a few "personal" attacks and watch the comedy ensue.

Of course we are all a bit crazy. No news there.

Getting worked up about what goes on in Spartanburg, though, seems almost sane after the madness of combine 40 times and the draft hoopla.

At least we are seeing offensive and defensive players competing against each other on the same field.

You also have to understand that there is a large crowd of people here who probably have never played football themselves, and are trying their best to understand it. It can be done but to understand truly you have to have put your fingers in the dirt at least once.
