Dumb question, not worth answering. Go ask someone stupid enough to fall for the typical "WHO WOULD YOU TAKE" question that always gets pulled out of a hat when they don't have anything else to say.

The fact is, there were CBs available who weren't recovering from ACL surgery. In fact, odds are Hogan was probably one of only a few, if not the ONLY CB in the draft recovering from an ACL surgery, and yet that's the guy that Hurney took.

Makes zero sense.

Thought that would shut you up. Typical armchair GM, happy to criticise but doesn't have an alternative answer.

Name one that did anything worth noticeable last year?

Any get to the Pro Bowl?

Any get All-Pro Honors?

Didn't thinks so, lay off the negativism. Why take a player that won't ever be a starter when you can draft a player that has the potential to be a starter...

Talent wise and skill wise he WAS the best player available.

He had the talent and the skill of a second round pick, but his ACL surgery caused him to drop.

You are so enamored with the fact that the had ACL surgery that you are putting an injury over talent.

It's a good thing that the Bronco's didn't do that with Peyton Manning.

If he was recovering from neck surgery and had numbness in his extremities, would you still draft him based on his "talent and skill" before the injury?

I'll answer it for you: No you wouldn't.

Would he still be considered the best player available?

No he wouldn't be.

This is no different. An ACL is a major injury. He wasn't the best player available because he couldn't come in and contribute immediately. How can you be a "player" if you can't be counted on to get on the field and "play"?

How is this different? Most analyst didn't even think Peyton would play again but people are willing to take a chance because of his potential to be good again.

The Panthers drafted Hogan based on potential because he has the ability to be a starter.

You only want guarantees, and I can tell you that is the easiest way to get fired because you miss out on the biggest rewards.

I.E. Cam Newton

Note: This has nothing to do with what injury he has, it has everything to do with the potential Hogan has.

And for heaven's sake it was fourth round pick, get over yourself.

I repeat, I'm not NAMING squat, not looking up any names, because I don't care "WHO" else they would've taken. All that matters is THE FACT THAT there were other CBs who hadn't had ACL surgery. This has never been about "WHO" because I don't give a crap about Brandon Hogan or any other CB that was drafted when he came out.

All that matters is THE FACT that every CB that came out in 2011 hadn't had ACL surgery. What their names are is less important than that. If none of them had names, that would still be a fact.

There are a lot of reasons why players don't excel. Doesn't mean they couldn't have if they were in a different situation.

Why don't we just re-do the entire draft? Easy to be an arm-chair GM

Carolina Panthers@Panthers

Official word: Panthers won't return to the field today for practice.

3 injured and 1 dead Panther player, that would be worse. It's only practice.

Yeah, my post definitely went right over your head. Definitely wasn't complaining about practice being cancelled due to storms.

There are no guarantees. Most players that are drafted don't have major injuries, and they NEVER BECOME ANYTHING special.

All that's irrelevant.

The fact is the Panthers needed immediate help at corner. Fact is Hogan had an ACL tear and from the moment he was drafted he was destined for injured reserve. Fact is he wasn't the only CB available in that draft. Fact is there were others who didn't enter the league on IR. Therefore, Hurney should've drafted a CB that didn't enter the league on IR.
