Cal has never won a National Championship. Let's not forget this.

Neither had Roy Williams prior to going to UNC.

I don't think he will win one this year no matter who he gets. I think that Kansas is just going to be too good. I would put UK in the UNC category of having a really good team in 2009 but not capable of a national championship..

Ahh, but if Kansas makes it FT's against Syracuse, that's not the case. Much in the same way Cal doesn't have one because of missed FT's against Kansas.

Everything I'm reading says it's down to UK and Miami... logic would lead one to believe that UK would win that competition...

I haven't heard that. Do you have a source for that?

Basketball teams are allowed 5 schollies per year (i believe not sure) and UK has signed 5 already. 13 total schollies are allowed. If Wall ends up choosing UK, UK will have 14 scholarship players on the team next year. It's really just crunching numbers.

1 Darius Miller SF/SG So.
3 Kevin Galloway PG/SG Sr.
10 Landon Slone SG Fr. WALK ON
21 Perry Stevenson PF Jr.
22 Ramon Harris SF Jr.
23 Jodie Meeks SG Jr.
30 Dwight Perry SG Jr. WALK ON
33 Matt Pilgrim PF Jr. Transfer sat out 08-09 season
34 DeAndre Liggins PG/SG So.
54 Patrick Patterson PF/C So.
00 DeMarcus Cousins Fr. #2 Overall #1 PF
00 Daniel Orton Fr. #22 Overall #4 C
00 Eric Bledsoe Fr. #23 Overall #3 PG
00 Jon Hood Fr. #40 Overall #11 SG
00 Darnell Dodson So. Juco

13 scholarships without Wall. 14 with.

we actually are over 13 scholly's.. you didnt count josh harrelson or aj stewart... both are rumored to be contemplating transferring... but cal is and has been up front with the players letting them know who will fit his system and who wont... for example... michael porter graduated early and is beginning his masters and foregoing his final year of eligibility... harrelson doesnt really fit cal's style so i would not be surprised if he is gone (transferring) and there are some options like harris who is a sr but not really a fit in the offense and could give up his scholly seeing as he is a senior and just wants to stay with the team... who knows how it will end but scholarships are one year contracts....

also, i had never heard about the 5 scholly's a year rule, i thought it was just 13 overall so that may be an issue if its true...

its gonna be pretty cutthroat and im glad cal is making the descisions and not me...

Yeah, exactly- if Wall says UK, then he's coming and someone else is losing their scholly.

Which is why every sportswriter in the nation hasn't brought up the scholarship "issue."

Am i the only one who sees the dickishness in that? Wall will leave after one year as opposed to a guy who will give 4 years (well depending who they cut) to your program? Haven't UNC and UF taught people anything?
