PreSeason Game #1: Panthers/Texans

I care about guys not getting hurt. Mainly a certain QB.

I am all about guys testing stuff out in the preseason. My personal preference is for OL, a rookie for example, not going into stuff cold.

Why not? Better now than in the regular season. At least now they aren't gameplanning for us. He can take it one step at a time. First he see the 3-4, then the 3-4 on steroids, then when they have installed a gameplan for us. Can't say I see your logic at all.

You do not want Cam getting hurt, but you are willing to let him run willy nilly all year? I don't get the logic? jk

I know you are talking about not getting hurt in a meaningless preseason game. Meant more to work the kinks out, than any actually football work. Get back into the swing of things and not get hurt. Yup, that is the first preseason game in a nutshell.

I am curious about Cam's playing time? Will it be two series? Or if he plays well in the first series, is he done? Does he only get a certain amount of plays? Or do they have a list of plays, and when the list is over, so is he? These and many more questions to be answered Sat. nite.

My giddy is ready. And GOOOOOO CATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, the above poster said Rivera was quoted saying he will prep the team for HOU. So that makes me happy. I would assume it being a 3-4 plays into that...getting the OL a little warmed up before spending an entire night blocking a 3-4 cold.

What do you assume Rivera meant by that. I guess you don't get his logic. I mean Carolina walks through plays before they practice them in camp....I don't get why going in totally cold to blocking a 3-4 seems like a good idea. I prefer they spend a day or so refreshing themselves about blocking it and then practicing it all night.

I don't want anyone getting hurt. But as for Cam, the concern with him is getting hurt in the pocket and not as a runner.

Rivera said the first team will get 12-15 snaps. That could be one drive or one quarter, hopefully it will only take one 7- 8 minute drive to eat up a dozen plays. Score a TD and bring on the auditions. it needs to be business as usual for this Offense. I would expect Anderson to play 2nd and 3rd Q, and Clausen to come on in the second half. No surprises on offense would be perfection.

Looking specifically at LaFell, Tolbert, Murphy, Barnidge, Brockel, and Amini.

For me this preseason is about how the defense develops. That will be an interesting aspect of the game to watch closely for 4 quarters. Which DL can get pressure on the QB? Will Nakamura solidify the FS spot? Who will emerge at CB2 (if it is Munnerlyn, then we are in trouble)?

Also, looking at Special Teams with much more scrutiny this preseason with battles at Kicker and Punter. I am excited to see what Joe Adams can do. I am really hoping Medlock gives them a reason to cut Mare.

I'm looking forward to seeing Kuechly in uniform on the field to start the game. Houston is a good test for this defense. They run strong and fast and have amazing depth at RB. They also have one of the best NFL receivers of all time (AJ), and a competent QB. They are difficult to force into a 3 and out situation and thats exactly where this defense needs to improve.

I'm looking forward to seeing our WR depth in action. I would like to see some good things out of Murphy, Pilares, and Adams in the passing game.

I'm also interested in the kicker battle. Hoping Medlock can push Mare off the team.

Someone just gave me 2 tickets to the game so I'm going!! I haven't been to a Panthers game in a really long time, I think the last one I went to was in the late 90's.. I'm still looking for someone to go with to use my other ticket.
