Heading up there for a long weekend. You good people have had good suggestions for some previous trips so I'll ask you again.

What to do?

Can you swim in the lake?

Where to eat?

One of my favorite places, Beautiful. We have a mt Cabin near Hendersonville so i usually take the long way and pass thru Lake Lure/Chimney Rock. You can swim. They actually have a beach like park set up and boats for rent i believe.

Are you staying in a house on the lake? It's a great swimming lake...hike chimney rock...take the boat tour...you don't want to make tons of trips to town for supplies ( groceries/booze)

Yeah we have a place right on the lake. Ill be taking my Kayak and paddling a bunch during the day but I imagine the wife will want to eat out at least once. Nothing fancy just something good.

The Notebook wasn't filmed at Lake Lure. Ingles or Walmart in Hendersonville is a really short drive from town if you're needing supplies/groceries straight up 64. One of the best hamburgers I've eaten was at Larkins but the last time I went the food quality was pretty poor. They could have just had a bad day so I recommend at least giving them a try. Swimming, boating, hiking you have a lot of outdoor activities to choose from so Lake Lure is a great place if you enjoy that type of stuff. Oh and watch out for the cops, they're terrible.
