Didn't the Magic GM come from San Antonio? Aren't they all supposed to be geniuses with great basketball minds? Smh, this guy was the dummy of the group. He just got hosed. Had a better offer from the Nets, and decides to take the crap offered to him by the Lakers. Didn't even get Bynun out of the deal smh. Every team in this deal just made a come up except Orlando.

No offer that includes Lopez on a max deal is a better offer. That offer was poo to, this is just better poo since they got two good young prospects in Vucevic and Harkless, and a younger (27) guy who can actually ball in AA. Harrington isn't terrible because his contract is only partially guaranteed. Plus it seems like Hedo may have been absorbed into Denver's TPE so their worst contract is gone along with Duhon and Earl Clark heading to L.A. according to Spears....

That now puts the Lakers payroll well over 100 million this season, and assuming Dwight signs a max extension with them next summer their payroll will be closer to 110 million in 2013-2014 and thats only with the 9 players returning. With the new luxury tax penalties starting next season, the Lakers could be on the hook for...get this...over 80 million in luxury tax penalties only which would increase their payroll to almost 200 million.

They also just signed a 3 billion dollar exclusive rights deal with Time Warner....pretty sure they aren't worried about the taxes for one year. After 2014 the only players on the roster are D12 (barring he re-signs like most think he will), and Steve Nash (likely to be retiring). So they will have a boatload of cap space to sign two other max players to play with a 28 year old D12....yea there's no way you can spin it, the Lakers have a very pretty present, and are set up for an equally attractive future....

So worried about the taxes they went out and signed Jodie Meeks and are more then likely going to snag Kenyon Martin as well....

Truth, dude deserves a statue outside of Staples. As a GM he has far surpassed the "logo" with this summers moves. West did his work in an NBA that was much easier to get trades done under the old CBA. Mitch not only pulled off Gasol in '08, but Steve Nash and D12 in the same Summer under a much stricter CBA. Let us not forget also that MK also pulled off the CP3 trade, only to have it ripped away by Stern. Nobody works harder then Kupchak, and he deserves every second of the vacation he's on right now....

He's done all this while still setting the team up to be just as dominant when Steve, Kobe and Pau are gone....
