Makes sense Romney would want more than 2 years of tax returns from his potential running mates. Don't want to end up with any nasty surprises turning up about what they did with their money...

Which begs the question, what the hell is Romney hiding? I don't even think I would have cared what was in them (barring anything illegal) but now i just want to know why he refuses to release them. Is it really just because he is so filthy rich he thinks voters will get turned off?

As I've pointed out before:
2008: Romney was a leading VP choice on the McCain ticket. McCain gets 23 years of tax returns from Romney. McCain selects Sarah Palin to be his running mate.

McCain still says Palin "was the better candidate" and will never admit Romney's taxes had anything to do with the pick, but we all saw what Sarah Palin did to the Republican chances at winning the White House and now, all of a sudden, Romney is the best the Republicans have to offer and the tax records he provided to the McCain campaign are now not even good enough for the rest of his own party, let alone the voting public.

Yes McCain would be misleading here. He's not going to destroy his parties candidate like that, though I'm sure there were many other reasons palin was preferred too.

Another possibility is something happened in 2009 that Romney doesn't want to release.

I get he is crazy wealthy. I have a hard time thinking his immense wealth is the only reason.
