Punters can't win games but they sure can lose them. Ask the Giants. I would not want to make this decision.

Rivera was more impressed with Nortman's hangtime than his avg.

Wow, Nortman is only avg 39.8. I know that he's supposed to have very good hangtime, but dang...39.8

Nortman only punted 5 times. 2 of them were for 47 yards. 2 of them were for 30 and 36 yards because he was trying to pin TB inside their 20, which he did. They fair caught one at their 8 yard line and we downed one at their 6 yard line (inside-20 percentage of 40). His net average does not tell the whole story. He only had one weak punt which traveled only 39 yards. He played pretty well last week.

the way the ball comes off his foot is more impressive than it was with baker. I am content with him as our punter

He did good, remember that field was wet so I'm sure that effect on his punting as well.

I remember all those that flipped poo and questioned the staff when we picked him.

I thought the kid did well. The blocked punt was a straight up blown assignment. That wasn't on Nortman in the least.

That's really good to know. Unfortunately I missed the game and the channel I recorded it on said that it was blocked out, so the only thing I've seen is highlights. Thanks for the info...

I would have to disagree with you. Do you remember the (12-4) Colts against the (8-8) Chargers in the 2009 playoffs? Chargers won that game because Mike Scifres pinned them 5 times inside the 10 and 2 of those were inside the 5. The best field position the Colts had started from was from their own 19 yard line and its worst was at the 1. This was clearly the reason why the Chargers upset the Colts. So punters can win games. Did you also get the chance to see Andy Lee's punts against the Saints** during the playoffs last year?? It's a huge advantage to have a good punter.

Great pick, great player. Some people don't understand how much the punter matters... its a game of inches and a 45 yard punt or a 50 yard punt could be the difference of a game.

So nice to see actually booming punts with good hangtime after watching Baker the last few years.
