It is so insanely stupid to pretend that he meant "you didn't build your company"
But the right wing media panders to "insanely stupid" and the are plenty of people in America eager to be pandered to.
I find it amusing that every single republican hated Romney for the entire primary, but his big money people BOUGHT the nomination for him and now you are all on the bandwagon.
You guys really have strong principals!
Also note: every single candidate before the last election, republican & Democrat, all said that you CANNOT cross Pakistan's border to capture or Kill Bin Laden EXCEPT for Obama, who said he absolutely would.
They all called him naive and foolish and claimed he simply didn't understand diplomacy or foreign relations, that Pakistan was one of our "strongest allies".
So please stop pretending that his decision to go get Bin Laden was a no brainer or not gutsy or that he is claiming glory.
IIRC he said "America doesn't need to spike the football"

He didn't misspeak. The quote was edited.Everyone knows what he meant when he mis-spoke, that the infrastructure of America is what he was referring to.

If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you’ve got a business — you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen. The Internet didn’t get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet.

We should bow and thank government for all good things, think it is in the bible.
The only governmental "assistance" he referenced was the internet. He was alluding to this idea called community.
So acknowledge the gov't can be sh*tty and decent at times. More of the time sh*tty. That's about it

Teachers provided by government, schools provided by government, roads provided by government
Yep each of these has a combination of bad and good within
