Makes sense. That whole Hampton Roads/Tidewater area has a huge population much greater than many areas that already host prosfessional sports teams

Wouldnt be a bad location at all. Only thing is, its not too far from the Wizards market and I wonder how they'd feel about it. It'd suck if they left Sacramento, but truth be told, they moved there from Cincy/Kansas City

For those that remember, this was also the place that the SOB George Shinn 1st threatened to move the Hornets to before Louisville and ultimately New Orleans.

Owners of the Sacramento Kings denied a report that the team is in talks to move to Virginia Beach, Va.

The Hampton Roads Business Journal in Norfolk, Va., cited unnamed sources as saying Kings ownership and officials from Comcast and concert promoter Live Nation are supposed to descend on Virginia Beach on Tuesday to discuss a new stadium and relocation of the NBA franchise.

"We haven't talked to Virginia Beach," Joe Maloof told CBS13 in Sacramento.

Kings owners Joe, Gavin and George Maloof pulled out of a plan to help finance an arena in Sacramento earlier this year, saying it didn't make financial sense for the franchise.

The team has been tied to discussion in Anaheim, Calif., as well as other cities.

"The Kings have been approached by numerous cities interested (in) buying the team and relocating it," Kings spokesman Eric Rose said to CBS13 in an email. "We are not going to discuss which cities have approached the team and are not going to comment on every rumor. I can tell you that the Kings are 100 percent focused on putting a winning team on the court."
Virginia Beach mayor Will Sessoms would not comment on the Kings but did say some meetings will take place.

"Comcast, Live Nation and Global Spectrum (a Comcast-owned stadium operator) have come to the city," he told the Business Journal. "They would guarantee us a professional sports team (if a deal goes through)."

Comcast told CBS13 through a spokesperson that it would not comment until after Tuesday's meetings.

Seems like a legit possibility. KT, that article you posted screams damage control on the part of the organization and they are probably in heated discussion about relocation. Sacramento to VA Beach means partial realignment though. Sac to east - who to west? Bucks maybe?

VA Beach has been used as leverage several times in the past. Wouldn't shock me if they are again this time.

LV is one of the fastest growing cities in the USA and it seems it's been that way for a while.

Yeah it's understandable why teams aren't wanting to go there. All those show girls can be a distraction to the players.
