Lupe is one of the few mainstreamers that has my respect. Good stuff indeed. It's entirely true that too many girls my age (low-mid 20's) nowadays seem to think that being a "bad bitch" and sleeping around with attractive men is a form of female empowerment. I'll take a real woman over those girls any day.

been saying for years. some times, you have to make the right things cool and not romanticize the bad. hope this makes a big impact.

I love Lupe. Not his best flow, but still a pretty powerful, and relevant song, that won't get the respect it deserves. But that seems to be the case with most of his music.

Easily the smartest MC in rap today.

this isn't bad. i think lamborghini angels is better but i'm worried that this isn't going to be a very good follow up to f&l overall. i want mean & vicious lupe not lasers lupe but i'm expecting something in the middle based on what i've heard

also the scene at the end of the video with the dude with blackface on is powerful. he's just playing a part because it's much easier to end up "successful" (financially) that way, and he knows it. record execs aren't concerned about the black community; the majority of people who buy rap cds are white and they're going to play to more "white" interests (see: escapism) in order to maintain that market. it has a detrimental effect on the black community but it makes rich people more rich and isn't that what america is all about anyway?

I agree. I want something along the lines of The Cool and F&L.

Lasers wasn't terrible, it just wasn't Lupe. Some songs on there (All Black Everything, Words I Never Said) are fairly Lupe-esque, but I hope we get some top notch music on F&L II.
