It was not a high ankle sprain. The high sprain comes from the foot rolling inward towards the opposite leg. Stews foot rolled to the outside which makes it just a common sprain. He should be completely ready for opening week. And no I'm not a doctor but this is common knowledge.

That is exactly what happened though. His foot rolled inward toward his opposite leg. What happened to Stew is exactly how high ankle sprains occur.

It's definitely a high ankle sprain.

PFT reported a source with knowledge said it's "just a sprain," didn't mention anything about it being of the high ankle variety. Who knows though.

It's ok guys we have like 2 more RBs.

When Collinsworth said that last night, That was when I started muting the game. I can't understand why a former player would ever say something like that.

Because its true. We have one of the deepest backfields in the game. If any team could overcome an injury at that spot, its us.

Coach Ron Rivera said he doesn't believe Jonathan Stewart sustained a high ankle sprain Sunday night.

True high ankle sprains sideline players for a month or more and involve damage to the tibia as well. Sunday night X-rays on Stewart's right wheel were completely negative, hinting at a Grade 1 or 2 sprain. We'd expect the Panthers to release a timetable once further testing is completed back in Charlotte. Consider Stewart questionable for Week 1.
