Going with the first one personally even though I pretty much admit which way I lean towards.

Never voted straight ticket, but I'm definately not independent.
Statistically independent voters are more apt to vote party line than actual party members.
Also, I think in NC no matter what you are registered as you can vote in any primary you want to. You just can't vote in ALL of them just the one.

If you're an independent or unaffliated, I believe you can choose a primary to vote in. If you're a D or R, you must vote in your primary only. Doesn't mean you couldn't change registration prior to the primary and change back afterwards. You cannot vote in both. NC is a semi-closed primary.Statistically independent voters are more apt to vote party line.

I believe so. I'm unaffiliated. At the primaries, they asked me to pick a side. I could have picked either side and voted the weakest candidates (what I should have done). I ended up just voting on Amendment One since I didn't pick a side.

James, if you are portraying yourself as independent, then that is enough for me
Technically I am one so I know how most people think. Yet I've never made any claims that i'm a moderate politically.
